Claims Klopp will be keeping a close eye on Wolves' record buy
Wolves should be prepared to lose their record signing as early as next year.

Wolves this week confirmed their most expensive signing ever in the form of Matheus Nunes from Sporting. The Wolves are said to have shelled out £38 million, with the option of a further £4 million, for the midfielder who Pep Guardiola has described as one of the world's best players.

Liverpool have also been linked with the 23-year-old this summer, with John Percy in The Telegraph reporting that the Reds are big admirers of the Brazilian-born player who represents Portugal after spending half his life there.

“Nunes is expected to settle in perfectly and Lage (Bruno, Wolves manager) is ready to give him his debut against Tottenham this weekend. Guardiola and Klopp will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on how he performs," writes Percy.

He writes that the Wolves consider Nunes to be a coup that they can make big money on later. They are reported to be prepared to lose their new star as early as next summer. Wolves' strategy is mainly to buy young people in order to make a profit on the players.

"Wolves realize they may only get a year out of Nunes if he continues his development, but when he is sold it will be for a far greater sum than £38m," writes Percy, who does not rule out that Nune could end up with to follow the same path as Diogo Jota.

"Jota is a perfect example of that model - three years at Wolves before his £41m move to Liverpool in September 2020".

Nunes is considered to be a player with good passing feet and a good overview of the game, but he is also no stranger to doing the rough work in midfield. He has ambitions to play in the World Cup for Portugal after performing well in the Champions League last year.
